History On Butler County, Iowa Land Records

Butler County was formed on January 15, 1851 and named after Kentucky native William Orlando Butler. William was a general and hero of the Mexican-American War, who ran as Vice President of the United States in 1848. The first court proceedings were conducted in a small log cabin. In 1858 the first courthouse was built in Clarksville. The courthouse was later used for a schoolhouse from 1863 until 1903. There are currently 20+ land sales being conducted in Butler County, Iowa.
